Meet the Owners
Mary and Allan Fraser followed their dream to open a museum where they could display and share the history of their community and surrounding areas with others in 2018 after purchasing the former Scotsburn Dairy building.
The 10,000 sq ft museum displays include the large horse drawn farm machinery as well as many hand tools used for farming, gardening and blacksmithing, a general store, doctor's buggy, grandma's kitchen and so much more.
Visitors are surprised and delighted to see how many artifacts there are and how well they are displayed. There is literally something to interest everyone.

By stepping into the old-time parlor, bedroom, and kitchen, we can see how our ancestors lived and gain a deeper understanding of how much our world has changed. We can appreciate the convenience of modern plumbing and electricity, and recognize the immense progress that has been made.
We visited as members of Harvest Host This is a great museum. The entrance fee reasonable and allows re-entry during the season (June-September). You think you have seen it all until you visit this museum. Two people can visit it and both see different things.
If collecting antiques was a competition, Allan and Mary would win for sure. Don't let yourself be intimidated by the entrance-way, no you're not going into a mechanics workshop. Make your way up the stairs into a full universe of historical items. There are themed rooms to explore, and many things to see. If Allan isn't busy, he'll show you around and has so much knowledge on everything he collects. My husband and I loved our time there. Worth the detour if you are around Pictou!
Fantastic museum to visit. Stairs to access so be aware of that. We were met by friendly volunteers who took us around the museum, telling stories about some of the items. There's TONS of items! And a wide variety of items. Hours could be spent here if you were to look at absolutely everything. Well worth visiting.
This place was fricken amazing. I could've spent an easy 3 hours in there. The staff were super amazing and you can tell how much time they've dedicated to this. Worth the trip. Let's go!

Monica, a volunteer, took me on a guided tour upstairs of the myriad of collectibles: the dairy room upstairs was quite colorful and beautifully arranged. It brought back a lot of memories of the milk and ice cream products of my youth.
Lots of farm equipment, cast iron kitchen items, bedding, dolls, vehicles, vintage magazines, glassware and tons of other knick-knacks that have been collected over the years from many families. If you're in the area, drop by.
$10 entry fee for an adult was more than entirely reasonable for such a nice tour. I was there for over 2 hours. Ample parking outside.
This place exceeded my expectations! You can easily spend an hour here and can tell the staff love what they do. So much to look at and you are allowed to interact with a lot of the items. Highly recommend.

This was an unexpectedly exceptional stop on our way to Cape Breton. The hosts were welcoming, accommodating, and passionate about sharing this collection. The stewardship and gathering of these historical artifacts is admirable. We are so glad to have met them and experienced this museum with them!

Allan gave us a guided tour of his fabulous collection of local artifacts and described to us all the stories behind them. A very worthwhile trip off the main highway.
Excellent visit. A lot of interesting information and literally tons of exhibits. What I appreciated is the range of subjects that fully revealed the experience of what rural life was like, historically speaking. Everything from the expected farming equipment to beautiful, highly collectible personal items. Also, a personal tour with very knowledgeable, friendly people!
A walk through time. Worth the stop. Owners took time to walk us through the whole museum and tell us a lot of stories to the displays. It was very interesting. Gave us a feeling of appreciation of that we have today.
A staggering collection of items (8,000 +/-) mostly related to home and farm. Most items are out in plain view and the helpful staff will show you things if you want. Very highly recommended.
If you’re looking to learn more about the history of the real people of NS, this is the place to be! Interesting historical artifacts and antiques with a tour from some of the kindest and most knowledgeable people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting.
What a fantastic collection of local history - the owners and volunteers shared their knowledge and passion for preserving a HUGE assortment of artifacts from local industry and daily living. Our family thoroughly enjoyed the collection, and our interaction with the staff. Thoroughly recommend!
My family had a great visit at this museum in August. Very impressive and expansive collection. My two kids (aged 8 and 11) enjoyed it and we had a fantastic impromptu tour courtesy of the museum volunteer. Recommended if you’re in the area.
Through the picturisk woods of NS and In the small town of Scotsburn Nova Scotia is this museum which is ran by a couple of faboulous people, Mary and Allan and one of the most interesting places I've seen.
No pressure, mosey around at own speed and get to see thousands of artifacts from the past. They are both very knologable on where artifacts came from and used for. Several times a year they have demonstrations on how to use items.(ex) milk separation and then making butter.
Good roads and large parking for any rig to get around.
Looking forward to getting back there sometime.

What an amazing collection of antique items! Had an amazing private tour by two local volunteers who knew every detail about each of the pieces from small household items to large farming tools. Highly recommend!
